A 22 km tunnel needs a 22 km model.
Hextal/Lab is the group's in-house digital engineering practice. 1,200 software engineers, data scientists, and BIM specialists build the tools that make infrastructure projects measurable, predictable, and transparent.
Four platforms, built in-house.
Hextal Twin
ProductionReal-time digital twin platform for active construction sites. Synchronises LiDAR scans, IoT sensor data, and BIM models into a single navigable environment. Used on 22 flagship projects including the Brenner Base Tunnel.
SiteEye
ProductionAutonomous drone survey system. Flies pre-programmed routes daily, captures photogrammetry and thermal data, and generates progress reports without human intervention. 280 units deployed across European sites.
CarbonTrace
ProductionEmbedded carbon tracking engine. Monitors CO2e per euro of revenue in real time across all active contracts. Powers the open carbon ledger published in the annual sustainability report.
PredictFlow
BetaPredictive analytics for schedule risk. Analyses 12 years of project delivery data to flag schedule overrun risk 90 days before impact. Accuracy rate: 87% on flagged risks.
From site to screen in 24 hours.
Capture
SiteEye drones fly pre-programmed routes every morning. LiDAR scanners, photogrammetry cameras, and thermal sensors collect raw spatial data.
Process
Raw data is processed on-site into point clouds and orthomosaics. Automated quality checks flag gaps or anomalies before upload.
Model
Processed data feeds into Hextal Twin. The digital twin updates in near real-time, overlaying as-built geometry against design intent.
Decide
Project managers access dashboards showing progress, schedule risk, material usage, and carbon impact. Decisions are data-driven, not intuition-driven.
From three engineers to twelve hundred.
Founded by Thomas Hartmann with 3 engineers in a borrowed office at TU Delft.
First BIM mandate: Maasvlakte III port. 12 engineers on the team.
SiteEye drone programme launched. 40 units in first year.
Hextal Twin platform goes live on the Brenner Base Tunnel programme.
CarbonTrace deployed group-wide. Open carbon ledger published for the first time.
New Delft campus opened. 1,200 engineers. Largest in-house construction tech team in Europe.
We hire engineers who write code and pour concrete.
Hextal/Lab is always looking for software engineers, data scientists, geomatics specialists, and BIM architects who want to work at the intersection of software and physical infrastructure.
